Did you know there are different types of posture that can give us pain? Not all exercises will work for all postural types and some will make your pain worse if you choose the wrong exercise. Posture is not the same for everyone and you need to be assessed to ensure you get the correct exercises for your posture type. There are also more complex things to take into account before starting on an exercise regime to correct your posture such as do you lean to one side or do you favour one leg more than the other?
Choosing the wrong exercise for your postural type can very quickly make things worse for you exasperating the problem further causing more imbalance and pain.
Typically a swayback posture has these characteristics.
Significant forward head posture
Pelvis out in front of thorax
Pooch belly
"No glutes"
Flexed Knees
Typically a person with Anterior Pelvic tilt has these charcteristics.
Flatter necks (but can have forward head posture too)
Rib flare
Significant lumbar lordosis
Pelvis clearly tilted down
Extended/hyper-extended knees
